The mCC is a mechanism through which the iHASE virtual network of public health agencies' applied epidemiology and disease intervention practitioners can develop collaboration with academia and affected communities to incubate exemplary public health solutions. The MEGACourse offers seminars on selected topics in Applied Epidemiology, Disease Control and Prevention [with relevance to HIV, STDs, TB & Viral Hepatitis (non-enteric) Epidemiology]. 
 
 
 

Through a partnership with the Penn State University College of Medicine (Woodward Endowment) and other collaborating partners, video recordings of seminars are archived online and are accessible through the links below each seminar title. Program Directors:

Seminars are offered at 2 timeframes during in-service training as follows:

2. Supplemental seminar series offered during the course of applied epidemiology in-service training incl. project implementation (internships/fellowships);
 
These seminars are intended to supplement in-service training curriculum topics not covered in the pre-placement/orientation. Examples of topics in the curriculum which may be addressed through these supplementary seminars include the following:
 
Public Health Policy and Legal/Regulatory Issues
- The generic framework of Public Health Acts/Laws, Regulations and Guidelines which govern:
  • Public health surveillance, public health interventions, etc;
  • Confidentiality and data security of HIV and related data;
  • Ethics of applied Epidemiology, protection of human subjects in scientific research; and the rationale/purpose of Institutional Review Boards;
Risk Communication
