iHASEInstitute of HIV/AIDS Surveillance & Epidemiology

Short Courses, Seminars and Tutorial Program Objectives
Main Objectives:
iHASE's applied HIV Epidemiology fellowship (in-service training/practicum) programs offer a short course/seminar/tutorial series (consisting of lectures, presentations, discussions) in applied HIV Epidemiology [i.e. topics related to public health surveillance and other relevant population-level Epidemiologic studies on HIV, and Epidemiology support for program planning, intervention development (prevention and treatment), outcome evaluation, etc].  In addition to offering short courses/seminars/tutorials on topics of relevance to the fellowship curriculum and core/focus areas of iHASE's collaborative framework during applied HIV Epidemiology fellowship programs, various short course/seminar/tutorial series will also be offered under other continuing education program formats such as virtual/online conferences.

Through coordination of academic-public health agency collaboration on development of short courses/seminar/tutorial series and facilitating exchanges of course content across affiliated iHASE Collaboration Centers/Units/Groups, iHASE collaborating partners aim to assure the provision of a high quality applied HIV Epidemiology in-service training experience. More specifically, the institutions participating in iHASE's applied HIV Epidemiology short course/seminar/tutorial series programs collaboratively organize the short course/seminar/tutorial series (consisting of lectures, presentations and discussions) as follows:
  1. Lectures/tutorial demonstrations on selected methods in applied HIV Epidemiology and Biostatistics following a structured iHASE (practicum) curriculum, and
  2. Relevant lectures/presentations in applied HIV Epi methods and study findings from conference proceedings, University/Schools of Public Health lectures, and Departments of Health presentations organized according to iHASE focus areas
