College of Applied Epidemiology

The global council on HIV/AIDS Surveillance & Epidemiology (gcHASE) in the College of Applied Epidemiology (CAE) is a global network of applied HIV Epidemiologists specializing in HIV/AIDS Surveillance & Epidemiology.  
Through subscribing to join the gcHASE-CAE global network, you may:
> Be eligible for nomination/selection to serve as iHASE Scientific Counsel, jHASE Editorial Board, jHASE International Advisory Board, and jHASE Peer Reviewers, iHASE Fellowship/Project Plan Readers, iHASE Fellowship Faculty Preceptors; iHASE/jHASE Trainee Fellows;
 
> Be CAE-accredited as a Member of the College of Applied Epidemiology (MCAE) and Fellow of the College of Applied Epidemiology (FCAE);
 
> Apply to be an iHASE/jHASE trainee/fellow:  
  • Junior Trainee/Fellow: MCAE-associate (for those not yet MCAE-eligible), and be enrolled in an iHASE-recognized and/or jHASE-recognized applied Epidemiology fellowship/practicum;
  • Senior Trainee/Fellow: For those who are not yet MCAE-eligible, this pathway is a gateway to becoming CAE-accredited as a Member of the College of Applied Epidemiology (MCAE) and ultimately a Fellow of the College of Applied Epidemiology (FCAE);
> Participate in global initiatives for providing high quality applied HIV Epidemiology expertise and capacity development for public health agencies in communities  highly impacted by HIV: 
  • iHASE: Through, iHASE's in-service training fellowships and a worldwide network of iHASE Collaboration Centers/Groups/Units, skilled applied HIV Epidemiology graduate/post-graduate trainees/fellows (with technical support from experienced CAE-accredited applied HIV Epidemiology Faculty Preceptors) will be embedded in/partnered with public health agencies and their local trainees/fellows (to assure post-fellowship sustainability of initiatives); 
  • jHASE: The Journal of HIV/AIDS Surveillance & Epidemiology will provide quality assurance and continuing education through ongoing peer review of project work conducted by these iHASE Collaboration Centers/Groups/Units. 
  • CAE: As the gateway to service in various applied HIV Epidemiology initiatives (incl. iHASE and jHASE), the College of Applied Epidemiology (CAE) will conduct accreditation of all trainees/fellows, faculty preceptors and all other associates of iHASE and jHASE.  CAE-accreditation is a quality assurance process for standardization and benchmarking of the professional/academic qualifications and experience of applied HIV Epidemiology researchers, associates and consultants in the subspecialty of applied HIV Epidemiology.
