Definition of a Collaboration Center/Unit/Group, Types/Categories of iHASE-accreditation and
Benefits Accorded to

Definition: An iHASE Collaboration
Center/Unit/Group is an iHASE-accredited/affiliated collaboration framework for partnership
between academic and public health agencies.
The primary purpose of these collaboration initiatives is to strengthen
community/public health
agency capacity for evidence-based Public Health practice in HIV prevention and
control through providing applied HIV Epidemiology support, i.e.
population-level assessment ( Public Health Surveillance) of disease
burden, risk and outcomes; conduct applied Epidemiologic research
on HIV interventions (biomedical, behavioral and social) and services;
conducting applied HIV Epidemiology in-service training; and conducting
quality assurance of applied HIV Epidemiology work and continuing
education through peer-review.
Types/Categories of iHASE-accreditation/affiliation:
Depending on the arrangement,
each iHASE Collaboration Center\Group\Unit
may primarily consist of an intramural or independent academic-public
health agency partnership initiative on any or all of the core service and training activity areas.

Benefits of iHASE-accreditation/affiliation: iHASE-accreditation affiliation of each academic-public health agency partnership/collaboration
initiative provides the benefits of a standardized, rigorous,
externally peer-reviewed framework for each of the above-listed Cores
(service activity
areas) including peer-support and exchange of information through participation in iHASE's
virtual/electronic networks/listservs of each Core (service activity areas),
iHASE
Collaboration Centers, and jHASE, the Journal of HIV/AIDS Surveillance
& Epidemiology (Journal of Proceedings of iHASE). Additional information on how to establish and
