An iHASE Collaboration
Center/Unit/Group is an iHASE-accredited collaboration framework for partnership
between academic and public health agencies.
The primary purpose of these collaboration initiatives is to strengthen
community/public health
agency capacity for evidence-based Public Health practice in HIV prevention and
control through providing applied HIV Epidemiology support, i.e.
population-level assessment ( Public Health Surveillance) of disease
burden, risk and outcomes; conduct applied Epidemiologic research
on HIV interventions (biomedical, behavioral and social) and services;
conducting applied HIV Epidemiology in-service training; and conducting
quality assurance of applied HIV Epidemiology work and continuing
education through peer-review. Outlined below are the core/focus areas of
iHASE-accredited collaboration initiatives:

|
|
|
|
|
Each iHASE Collaboration Center\Group\Unit
primarily consists of an independent academic-public health agency partnership
initiative on
any or all of the above Core service and training activity areas. iHASE affiliation of each academic-public health agency partnership/collaboration
initiative provides the benefits of a standardized, rigorous,
externally peer-reviewed framework for each of the above-listed Cores
(service activity
areas) including peer-support and exchange of information through participation in
iHASE's
virtual/electronic networks/listservs of each Core (service activity areas),
iHASE
Collaboration Centers, and jHASE, the Journal of HIV/AIDS Surveillance
& Epidemiology (Journal of Proceedings of iHASE). Additional information on how to establish and
affiliate a collaborative partnership initiative as an iHASE Collaboration Center
is outlined under 'Establishing an iHASE Collaboration
Center'.
